Picric acid is a C-nitro compound comprising phenol having three nitro substtituents at the 2-, 4- and 6-positions. It has a role as an antiseptic drug, a fixative and an explosive. It is functionally related to a phenol and a 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene. It is a conjugate acid of a picrate anion.
